Kate Neame, printmaker

I am constantly inspired by the beauty of our landscape and the natural world. I find printmaking allows me to bring into focus the very essence of a place or object. Unnecessary detail can be stripped away, allowing me to capture in my art the strong, essential elements of the world around us.
My screen prints and linocuts are limited editions, hand printed by me onto fully archival paper using water-based inks. Part of the joy of owning a hand printed work is knowing that it is unique. The small variations that arise during 'burnishing' or pulling the ink through the mesh of the screen gives each print its own character and idiosyncrasy. In this way, each print is an individual piece of art.
